Call to Order

The York Region Planning Advisory Committee meeting was called to order at 4:01 p.m. on March 20, 2019.

Election of Chair

• Regional Councillor Jones nominated Mayor Mrakas for the position of Chair of the Planning Advisory Committee for 2019. There being no further nominations, Mayor Mrakas was acclaimed as Chair.

Election of Vice Chair

• Regional Chair Emmerson nominated Regional Councillor Jones for the position of Vice Chair of the Planning Advisory Committee for 2019. There being no further nominations, Regional Councillor Jones was acclaimed as Vice Chair.

The Planning Advisory Committee reviewed and approved the minutes of the May 17, 2018 Planning Advisory Committee meeting.

Administrative Items

Paul Freeman, Chief Planner, welcomed members to the first meeting of the Planning Advisory Committee in 2019. Mr. Freeman provided a verbal update on administrative items including the resignation of Joel Swagerman, who was replaced through the appointment of alternate member Hamid Mazaheri. Mr. Freeman also provided updates on the Municipal Comprehensive Review currently being undertaken by York Region.

Employment Survey Presentation

• Committee received the presentation by Jelena Baker, Planner, Long Range Planning, on the 2018 Employment Survey results.

Proposed Amendment 1 to the Growth Plan

• Committee received the presentation by Michael Skelly, Senior Planner, Long Range Planning, regarding comments made by York Region on Proposed Amendment 1 to the Growth Plan.

Draft Rental Housing Incentive Guideline

• Committee received the presentation by Sarah Cameron, Senior Planner, Long Range Planning, regarding draft rental housing incentive guideline being developed by Planning and Economic Development staff.

York Region's Approach to Implementing the Agricultural System

• Committee received the presentation by Jennifer Best, Senior Planner, Long Range Planning, regarding the Region's approach to implementing the agricultural system.
