Regional Councillor Vegh called the meeting to order at 4:01 p.m. and made the following remarks:

“We acknowledge the land we are meeting on today is the traditional territory of many First Nations, including the Chippewas of Georgina Island and the Mississaugas of the Credit. These lands are now home to many diverse Indigenous peoples.

We also acknowledge that York Region falls under Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit and the Williams Treaties with several Mississauga and Chippewas First Nations.”

Committee received the presentation from Andrea Griepsma, Manager, Digital Design and Public Relations, Corporate Communications and Neal Kelly, Corporate Digital Specialist, Corporate Communications.

Committee received the presentation from Lisa Alfieri-Sladen, Manager, Human Services, Strategies and Partnerships Branch, Community and Health Services and Joachim Tsui, Program Manager, Human Services Integration, Strategies and Partnerships Branch, Community and Health Services.

 

Committee recessed at 5:14 p.m. and resumed at 5:25 p.m.

 

Committee received the presentation from Krista Richards, Health Promoter, Public Health, Community and Health Services, Kim Bacani-Angus, Public Health Nurse, Community and Health Services and Rachel Griffin, Public Health Nurse, Community and Health Services.

Due to time constraints, the update on accessibility activities from Kim Adeney, Manager (A), Social Policy and Accessibility, Strategies and Partnerships Branch, Community and Health Services will be emailed out to members.

Joseph Silva, Director, Strategies and Partnerships announced the retirement of Kim Adeney, Program Manager, Inclusion and Accessibility Unit, who has been supporting the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee for the past 11 years. Mr. Silva thanked Ms. Adeney for her exceptional work on behalf of the committee.

Joseph Silva, Director, Strategies and Partnerships introduced Khairoon Abbas as the new Program Manager, Inclusion and Accessibility Unit, who has been a communications specialist with the Strategies and Partnerships Branch since 2018. 

The next meeting is scheduled on November 25, 2020 and will be held via the Zoom platform.

The Committee meeting adjourned at 6:03 p.m.
